That's the start of this hilarious novel by Dave Barry. It features a lot of funny characters (a single dad, some very clumsy criminals, a few dangerous Russians and the FBI, amongst others) in the funniest situations Miami/Florida has ever seen.
This is probably the funniest book that was ever written! You will have to laugh on every single page!

Shopgirl is a very beautifully written character study, a very true and often funny - though at times also sad - story about the ups and downs of life.
Not necessarily a comedy, but definately worth reading!

Miranda's behaviour is so insanely over-the-top that it's a gas to see what she'll do next.. For instance, when Miranda goes to Paris for the collections, Andrea receives a call back at the New York office (where, incidentally, she's not allowed to leave her desk to eat or go to the bathroom, lest her boss should call). Miranda bellows over the line: "I am standing in the pouring rain on the rue de Rivoli and my driver has vanished. Vanished! Find him immediately!"
